Instagram Sorter — ZaidKittAI helps you sort and research Reels on Instagram profile pages. It processes post links, creator names, captions, dates, visible metrics, thumbnails, available media links, and transcripts for the features you use. It also checks the active page to explain whether sorting is supported. It does not collect your browsing history or read Instagram login cookies, passwords, or direct messages.

Collected results and selections are held in the current page's memory. Sorting preferences and an optional local helper connection token are stored in your Chrome profile on your device. This extension does not use Chrome's synchronized storage, advertising, analytics, or a publisher-operated data collection server. We do not sell data, use it for unrelated purposes, or use it for creditworthiness or lending.

When you load Instagram pages, images, videos, or request a download, your browser communicates with Instagram and its media delivery services. The extension may open an inactive Instagram post tab to read the selected post's available details, then close that tab. These services receive ordinary requests and are governed by their own privacy practices. Their requests may use your existing browser session. The extension does not copy your session credentials to the publisher.

Exports save selected rows to your device or clipboard. The Google Sheets option opens a new sheet; you choose whether to paste the copied rows into Google. Files you download or export remain until you delete them.

Transcription is optional and requires a separate helper running on your own computer. When enabled, the extension sends the selected video's media URL and its local connection token only to the helper at 127.0.0.1. The helper downloads that media from Instagram's CDN and performs speech recognition on your computer. Audio is not uploaded to an AI transcription service. Initial setup downloads Python packages and speech model files from their distributors; those distributors receive normal download requests. The helper disables supported model-library telemetry.

Temporary media used for transcription is deleted after processing. Transcription jobs and results are held in helper memory, limited to 100 records, and clear when the helper stops. The helper stores its connection token in a local file. Disconnecting in extension Settings removes the extension's saved token and localhost permission. Removing the extension clears its Chrome storage; remove the helper directory separately to delete its files. Refreshing or closing an Instagram page clears that page's collected results and transcripts, so export anything you want to keep.

We will update this policy if the extension’s data practices change. Questions: zaidkittai@gmail.com.

Support & setup

Open an Instagram profile’s Reels tab, open Instagram Sorter, choose a post count or date range, and select a sorting option. Use Restore feed to return to Instagram’s original grid.

Optional local transcription · macOS

Sorting and exports do not need a helper. Transcription requires Python 3.10 or newer and the separate helper below. The first setup downloads dependencies and a speech model; processing speed depends on your computer.

Download local transcription helper
  1. Extract the ZIP to a folder you want to keep.
  2. Open Start Transcription.command. If macOS asks, review the file and allow it to open. Keep its terminal window running.
  3. Copy the connection token printed by the helper.
  4. Open the extension’s Settings, paste the token, and select Enable local transcription.
  5. Choose Transcribe on a Reel with available video. Results stay local and can be exported.

If the launcher is not executable after extraction, open Terminal in the extracted folder and run bash "Start Transcription.command". Python must be installed first. The included source and instructions are available for inspection before running.

To disconnect, select Disconnect in extension Settings, stop the helper, and delete its extracted folder if you no longer want its local files.
